Never underestimate the power of Caravaggio. The guy was one hell of a painter, and when you dig through my archives to read this, that's probably one of the few things I want you to get out of this.

2. likano: sorry if I scare you with my enthusiasm. I react strongly to good art and uh, well, sleep deprivation magnifies all emotions. Therefore "omg that's really good" becomes "ZOMFG YOUR USE OF COLOR CONTRAST AND MINIMALISM GIVES ME ARTGASMS". At least I leave more constructive comments that way.

3. saturdayx: I don't know you, like, even in the least bit at all, and I don't know that you'll ever even see this, but your most recent deviation inspired this entry. Audience, go look at it, called Selfportrait 2 or something. I honestly think he might be channeling THE Caravaggio.

Also, I was wondering: I'm currently writing a story & making a corresponding site for it and I want to add images I feel are pretty close to my idea of the characters, especially since I'm far too busy with the story and the site to paint them myself. Would you mind if I posted a copy of the picture (with credit, or course) or a link to the picture? I'd feel much better patronizing fellow deviants than appropriating pics of Google ImageSearch.

I don't like your work--I love it. It positively tickles me to see a brother making beautiful Islamic art.

Quite a welcome relief from the deluge of, albeit entertaining, riffraff and cartoons. It also reminds me of the calligraphy that I want but am currently too poor to buy.
